Heel Incident

So I'm looking for back up... I was due to meet a girlfriend for some lunch and was literally outside of a shoe shop when the heel on my boot snapped. Without giving it a second thought, I entered the shop, explained my situation to the shop assistant and bought a replacement pair to wear out of the shop.

When I mentioned my predicament later in the day, I explained that it was a necessity that I could have done without just upon Christmas, only to be told that wasn't the case. I could have apparently bought the cheapest pair of pumps that were in the sale - that would be fulfilling the requirement rather than a knee high pair of boots.

This is where I'm looking for your support as I don't believe that's true! Surely putting the money towards something I will actually wear again is better than buying some ghastly cheap shoes that I'll simply throw out as soon as I get home. Surely I'm not the only one with that logic?!?

Incredibly Exciting News

For the past month or so, I've been incredibly well behaved (on the record anyway!) and I've been trying to avoid the shops at all lengths. Whenever I have walked past Office though, a certain pair of shoes have always caught my eye. I've been so close to walking in and trying them on, but I know that I won't be able to walk out without the shoes bagged and in my hand! I seriously have no will power - do they do hypnosis to cure a shopping addiction I wonder?

Anyway, I've just been sat looking at the Office website online and they currently have 25% off of their high heels when you buy them online and the gorgeous shoes definitely fall into that category...

As you can see, they're definitely festive enough for the party season and sturdy enough to still walk after a few christmas tipples! They also come in red, but the black ones win every day for me. The Crystaline Courts are meant to cost £44.99 but are currently reduced to £33.74, which won't break the bank even for Santa... hint hint!

Grazia - 11th December Edition

I'm awful.... I know. I've been so busy that I haven't had the chance to post for ages - so planning to make it up to you all by posting twice a much this weekend!

The first thing that I thought I would mention was that I bought Grazia magazine yesterday and it had quite a few interesting articles in there for shoe lovers like myself. I would recommend buying the magazine as it features some fab christmas shoes. In addition, there are also vouchers in the magazine which entitle you to 20% off at Oasis, Karen Millen, Wallis, Faith and All Saints.

For those of you who are like myself and in desperate need of some new heels for the party season, I think that gives the perfect excuse to hit those shops. After all, that's 20% you can put towards something else : )

Twig Legs

OK, so yesterday I did the mother-daughter christmas shopping trip where my mum buys official presents that get taken home for my step-father to see and the unofficial presents that I'm allowed to take home early as "secret gifts"... I love being part of a step family!

Anyway, back to my original point, my main "official" gift was to be a new pair of boots. I was told that I could choose whatever I wanted and she would buy them for me - fantastic I thought. That was of course until I found a fantastic pair of boots, fell in love instantaneously only to be find out that this rule applied as long as it was within the budget that she wasn't prepared to disclose!

The search continued...

I was surprised by the difficulty that I found in finding a pair of boots to fit. I've never had any problems buying shoes or boots, but having recently lost a fair amount of weight it turned out to be much harder than I could have imagined. Girls with well built calves are fine and especially so with this season's fashion of slouch and pirate boots... however for girls like myself that have twigs where there legs should be, life isn't as easy.

In fairness, I know that there are specialist shops that can make made-to-measure or tailored boots, but for the average girl that just wants to pop to the mall and pick up a new pair and sneak them home and pretend she's had them for ages, we need something easier! I did however manage to find a cunning solution in River Island of all places.

They had a couple of pairs of boots in there that had a tie up detail at the back of the boot, which whether intended or not, means that you can draw the top of the boot in to fit your calf and keep those skinny jeans nicely tucked in! The pair that I liked were called "Amee Stretched Tie Boot" and cost a reasonable £79.99 which apparently within my mum's budget, so we all know what santa's bringing me this year!

p.s. If any of you actually know my mum - please don't let her know how ungrateful I am, I fear santa still has the receipt!

Girly as a girl can be!

Sorry it's been a while since I've updated the old blog, things have been busy with work which has meant that I've had restricted shopping time! Started to get withdrawal symptoms though, so I'll have to put that in check!

I think my partner is concerned that I'm buying more shoes as I type as he's just looked over my shoulder at the computer (I'm sure to check out what I'm doing!). This then led to the discussion of whether I had spelt withdrawal properly. So never one to be proven wrong, I got straight in to the dictionary and found the following definition:-
"the unpleasant physical reaction that accompanies the process of ceasing to take an addictive drug"

Well I certainly don't take any drugs, but it looks like I'm definitely suffering from the above, so maybe it's about time I got me so rehab! I wonder if there are any sanctuaries near Old Bond Street? Could be handy for those shops!

Now that I've completely deviated from the topic of shoes, back to my original story! I've just been on ebay to check whether my items had sold and I came across a lovely pair of ponyskin boots by Paul Smith that cost £440 originally. They currently have no bids and look like they will go for around £45 - now that's what I call a bargain. I hadn't previously looked at the Paul Smith site, but it prompted me to go and undertake further research!

Now the thing that I love about these pumps apart from their obvious girliness (a technical term, make note!) is that they will go with nothing which means that you can wear them with everything! You'll never have to worry about whether they match your outfit, instead you're being bold, making a statement and not having to put in any effort at the same time - perfect! My kind of shoes!

The slices of chocolate brown will mean that they'll go with all of the fabrics of the season, whilst the lighter tones mean that they should easily carry through into the spring season - making them a great investment!

If you want to check out the shoes, go to the Paul Smith website where you can find these lovely things, they're currently retailing for £160. I know that may seem a fair chunk of money for some pumps, but when you take into consideration their comfort and therefore the number of times that you're likely to wear them - that's a good economy!

Ooh, on a separate note, a contact from Bertie has recently been in touch to invite me to their offices. All of you who know I'm a huge Bertie fan will perhaps understand how excited I was by this! It's fair to say that I now have a few more smile lines (I really must get a good anti-aging face cream... how depressing is that?). Anyway, I will let you know how I get on and if I can smuggle in my camera and take a few piccies, I will!

Designer Gone Mad!

I've been looking on the web and had previously seen some lovely Fendi shoes that I liked and wanted to feature to share with you lovely people. I made the mistake of entering "Fendi Shoes" into the Google search bar and was presented with this:-

I'm sorry, but what are these all about? At what point did style go out of the window and fake items become fashionable? Why would you buy these shoes other than to shout to people I wear fake Fendi shoes and want to prove to the world that I can't afford a proper pair? Sorry to be so harsh, but this is sole destroying (see what I did there?)...

Ok, so it's official - I definitely have a problem. I've always know that could be the case, but now it's official. I have the largest dark circles underneath my eyes that even my Touche Eclait won't hide it.... the reason - I've fallen in love with yet another pair of shoes, leading to a definite loss of sleep. Not another pair I hear you exclaim, which is exactly the response I got from my fiance when I managed to get words out of him in the morning - I say in the morning because he chose to completely ignore me when I tried to wake him to tell him about them in the middle of the night!!

So here they are:-

They are from Kurt Geiger and would go perfectly with the outfit that I haven't yet bought or decided upon for a wedding next month! I just think they're beautiful and so in keeping with the trends of this winter, they would work perfectly with the tweeds of the season! They may not have the essential platforms that everyone appears to be going for, but with the rounded toe, gorgeous forrest green colour suede and band across the foot - these shoes guarantee comfort and style - the best of both worlds! I'll let you know how I get on as soon as I manage to get myself to those shops!

Treat or Treat for Halloween!

I'm not sure what's wrong with me, I'm really not - but small children dressed in scary outfits knocking at your door really scare me. I've actually avoided turning the light on all night, managed to climb the stairs sideways against the wall to avoid being spotted and am now crouched in the dark in my bedroom in the hope that no one will think I'm in and just being mean and therefore decide to egg me! Is is just me that feels this way?

Anyway, to pre-occupy myself, I've been doing some research and for a moment, I was completely lost in my own little shopping bubble, so hopefully I'll be able to help you if any of you are as scared or strange as me!

There are some really decent quality and affordable shoes available at the moment, so I've tried to cover all bases. As such, today's post is quite comfy, so you might want to grab yourself a seat and make yourself comfy!

Talking of comfy, these pirate boots from Bertie not only feel great but are the height of fashion at the moment with some skinny jeans. The leather has a really polished look and therefore looks smart/casual rather than just something that you've thrown on. Be warned though, unless you have the figure to carry off really skinny jeans, only wear this combination when you're not likely to have to take the boots off in public - for example if you pop in to your grandma's where she insists that you leave your shoes at the back door. The good thing about these boots is that they don't break the bank either, at £135 sizes 3-8, which for a winter essential provides good value for money. Try to think of it on a cost per wear basis and then you'll come around to my way of thinking!

If it's a smarter boot that you're looking for and your budget isn't quite as restricted, these Gucci boots are fantastic! They have the killer heel built in, which means that whilst they may not be an every day boot, they do give an extension to your pins, performing miracles on the stumpiest of legs... trust me, I've been there! They retail at £610 and for those who don't have easy access to a Gucci retail store are available online. It has to be said that Gucci's website makes it incredibly enticing to spend a lot more than you had set out to! Don't say you haven't been warned!

Back to the serious matter of bargain hunting now though and I've come across some little hidden jems, so get credit cards at the ready:-

These little beauties are currently in the Faith sale online, reduced to £25, which is enough to brighten anyone's day, in addition to the already cheery colour. I think this fantastic colour would lend itself really well in contrast with a black or grey outfit - the possibilities are endless. That reminds me, I really should get my mum to subscribe to my blog - what with Christmas fast approaching!

As we're in November now, well practically - give or take a few hours, I also thought that I should start looking at some festive sparklers! Christmas is my favorite time of year as there are so many sparkly and dressy shoes available. I use this as my opportunity to stock up for the year, as I think it would be a waste only to wear such pretty things when Santa comes to town!

I'm the first to admit that I have something of a Gina addiction and would be pleased with any single pair of shoes that come from there. Having said that though, I have managed to find several pairs that provide similar levels of elegance with a fraction of the price tag. These gorgeous shoes come from Moda in Pelle and cost £49.99, which I think is really reasonable. Yet again, they can be bought on Moda in Pelle's website (you can access this from the link on my page).

Last, but by no means least are these designer-esque cafire shoes from Faith Solo- costing £85. They'll look perfect with the browns that are in at the moment (which are the new greys, which replaced blacks etc). Either way, I think that these shoes are a real statement piece and scream confidence - so why not bite the bullet and treat yourself? I'm not meant to be shopping at the moment as I'm saving for my wedding, so it provides some comfort in knowing that the shoes I love are going to good homes : )

So the search continues for "no moo shoes" and I have happened to find a good little site called Bourgeois Boheme which has some fantastic accessories and some pretty good shoes too. The search will still continue, but in the meanwhile, I have found the cutest bag. I know that this deviates from the shoe theme a little, but surely it's just another reason to go shoe shopping? Day of ugliness!

I've been good, I've been scouting the internet all day and have found lots of gorgeous shoes that I hope to post shortly. Whilst I was rummaging through many "standard" shoes, I came across a site that offers vegetarian shoes. Being vegetarian myself I was intruiged and decided to take a look. The outcome is that I've been scarred for life, seriously, the site should have come with a warning...

I'm sorry, I know that I should have some respect - that's someone's hard work and effort that has gone in to making the monstrosities - but the thing that confuses me is that people must be buying these things for the business to be maintainable? Quite unbelievable!

They probably would be more palletable to eat than to look at!

It did get me thinking though, and I've set myself the challenge to see whether I can find a good looking pair of vegetarian shoes! May the challenge begin......

My "individual" style...

So I thought that it would be beneficial to show you what I class to be gorgeous shoes, you can then make up your own minds about whether you like my style or whether I'm individual or "special" as my mum would kindly put it.

I think that shoes can make the dullest of outfits and whilst I joke about buying clothes to match shoes, it has been known to happen before. I keep trying to explain to my partner that a good pair of shoes are an investment. When you see a gorgeous pair of shoes, I strongly believe without even giving it a second thought, you should buy them. Work out how to pay for them whether it's scrimping, borrowing or saving - but good one off shoes are hard to find and having them end up in your wardrobe cannot be risked at any length! Once you have them home and you're absolutely and utterly in love with them, work out what outfits they go with and whether another shopping trip may be in order to buy something to accentuate them (what better excuse?)

For work, I love a really simple outfit with really striking shoes. A bold colour shouts confidence without being "too in your face" - although it has to be said that I'm often that as well!

I'm positive that I can't be the only person who thinks that clothes should be bought to co-ordinate with your shoes, rather than the other way around. For years now my interest in shoes has grown and for this reason, I am prepared to sacrifice myself to this passion in order to bring you details of the most up-to-date fashion, shoe find and helpful tips and advice.
